Major Accomplishments after my MA

Namely:

  • July 2001: Part of a United Nations publication concerning refugee issues. My part was to put information into comprehensive charts and statistics, as well as to format the English version of the document.
  • June 2001: Successful organisation of a Gala Concert under the auspices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. My role was to arrange for some of the logistics as well as to secure some of the sponsors.
  • May 2001: Preparation of a speech and a multimedia presentation for the UNHCR country representative on the theme of 'Housing for Refugees in Central European Countries' delivered at the Bulgarian Parliament.
  • April 2001: Organised a seminar at Svilengrad - Bulgaria on the theme of 'International Refugee Law'. My role was to prepare logistic support for the seminar as well as to establish relations with the participants.
  • December 2000: Organised a fundraising - public awareness concert in Thessaloniki for Amnesty International. My role was to secure sponsors; organise the musicians; provide logistics; promote the event in the local media.
  • November 2000: Organised a public awareness event in Thessaloniki for Amnesty International. My role was to secure the space from the Municipality; arrange media coverage.
  • October 2000: Organised a photographic exhibition in a major cultural centre (Mylos) in Thessaloniki for Amnesty International. My role was to structure and promote the event in the media as well as secure the hall for free.

General:

  • Extensive research on Refugee issues for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and on Human Rights Issues and violations for Amnesty International.
  • Established relations with media organisations / journalists.
  • Extensive lobbying for the UNHCR in political / diplomatic circles.
